The timing of when you enroll in a Medigap plan is crucial! That’s why we always recommend everyone to enroll in Medigap as soon as their Part B coverage is effective and they are age 65. Once this happens, you’ll have a six-month enrollment period to enroll in a plan without insurance companies charging you more or denying you coverage due to health reasons.
If you miss this enrollment period, it doesn’t mean you will never be able to enroll in a Medigap plan. However, it can make it more challenging to get the plan you want.
If you’re ready to enroll in Medigap but aren’t sure where to start, we have the answers you need!
The coverage provided by each Medigap plan will vary so choosing the right one for you will take careful consideration. To give you a better idea of the coverage offered, here is a breakdown of each plan and what you can expect to see.
Do take note that Plans C and F are only available to Medicare beneficiaries who became eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020!

Plans are insured or covered by a Medicare Advantage (HMO, PPO and PFFS) organization with a Medicare contract and/or a Medicare-approved Part D sponsor. Enrollment in the plan depends on the plan’s contract renewal with Medicare. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.
